Over the past ten seasons, Ascension Bay Bonefish Club has earned a reputation as one of the finest flats fishing lodges in the world. The club's experienced owner Joe Sugura, exceptional Mayan guides and a thorough and ever increasing knowledge of this vast Bay makes for a world-class fishing destination! But, more than the finest permit fishing in theworld, Ascension Bay offers the unique opportunity for anglers to fish protected flats for a variety of game fish, including permit, bonefish, tarpon, snook, jacks, and barracuda. When conditions are right, Ascension Bay also offers the angler an honest chance to catch a Grand Slam (bonefish, tarpon, and permit).
Ascension Bay Bonefish Club is located on the north side of Ascension Bay in the quaint seaside town of Punta Allen. The lodge's air conditioned rooms are large and well appointed. The building is constructed of concrete block and stuccoed inside and out. The interior of the lodge features Spanish tile floors, mahogany furniture, and modern fixtures. Six anglers can be accommodated at one time.

The food is excellent and the service is good. Meals consist of an excellent blend of Caribbean, Yucatan, and American dishes Breakfast consist of traditional bacon and eggs, but also includes cereals, French toast, Eggs Rancheros, and fresh tropical fruits. Dinners are fresh fish, lobster in season, fresh meats, chile reallno, civiche, traditional fare, and Yucatan delicacies. The lodge's water supply comes from fresh water springs. Strategically located within the protective boundaries of the Sian Kaan Reserve on the northern tip of Ascension Bay, Ascension Bay Bonefish Club accesses one of the finest saltwater flats fisheries in the world. Designated by the United Nations as a "World Heritage Site," the Sian Kaan Reserve was created by presidential decree on January 20, 1986, as part of a program instated by the International Network of Biosphere Reserves. Sian Kaan encompasses more than 1.3 million acres. Along the coast, a complex string of submerged islands provides the ideal environment for a shallow-water coral system. The reef provides food and shelter to a huge variety of fish and crustaceans.

The flats of Ascension Bay are surrounded by small freshwater springs and creeks which feed the brackish mangrove estuaries. These areas are used as feeding grounds for flats and reef species. This area is without a doubt one of the best place in the world to catch a world record permit. The best fishing areas including Tres Maris and Esperanza. Tarpon are caught throughout the year, but May and June are probably the best time if tarpon is your main quarry. The majority of the bonefishing is carried out by wading shallow flats usually under 18" deep. In addition to a senior guide for every two anglers, a "Jr guide" is employed to move the boat behind wading anglers and steady the boat when fishing for permit and as an extra set of trained eyes. This service increases fishing time, eliminating the need to cover water already fished. By the way, don't underestimate these "Jr Guides", as they are learning fast and promise to be top guides themselves.

The cost of a week stay/fishing based upon double occupancy November through June is $2,900.00.The Package includes round-trip transportation from Cancun to ABBC. All meals and accommodations at ABBC. Six full days of guided fishing, including boat transportation, licenses and tax.Prices are subject to change without notice until booked.

When is the best time to go? Ascension Bay Bonefish Club offers productive fishing from November through June when "historically" weather conditions are ideal.
